Thank you for the great feedback on this post. I am happy to be able to provide good value to my readers.

Mell, regarding your question, there are quite a few tools for you to use in the area of personal branding for any career prospect. I am normally not very fond of quick fixes so I assume that you know yourself and your value well enough to know that this career is really what you want.

First I would recommend you to really define who your target groups are, what papers do they read, what social media channels, can you find and follow them on twitter, etc. Knowing your goal and your target groups, you can now lay out a strategy for targeting these groups and build a brand precence amongst them.

This could be one way to do it, but you have to find the way that is right for you. Start following the news in the industry, become someone that really understand the industry and the trends. First then start talking about the trends, the news and the industry on twiiter, maybe set up your own blog about it. Make sure that you have a LinkedIn profile that reflect your goals, integrate your blog and twitter with LinkedIn.

By now you should have an interesting enough profile to start connecting with the target group both on LinkedIn as well as in person. Don't be afraid to ask for advise or ask them to contribute with their knowledge to the blog, providing that the blog has been sucessful in attracting the right readers.

This way you may establish personal connections with the target group in a non intrusive way, show you knowledge and if done right creating an interest in you as a person to work with.

Good luck and please feel free to contact me with your strategy if you'd like some feedback.

Yes, My pleasure. this positive response, has helped one confirm that belief that, what i am saying, is correct and that it is important to identify these elements as they do convey different messages but within all the same communications... interesting isn't it?

This website, is quite helpful actually, i like the simple layout and the quick, easy and accessible ways you can view the info most appealing or, what is required of information.

Yes, this is on personal branding but, i wanted to ask a question?... I am hoping to pursue a career in advertising on finishing and graduating from my studies in a year or two. how can i relate this topic of personal branding to the required career prospect? could i perhaps use these tools to become recognized by the right people, in the right industry?

it would be most appreciated, if you can help.

Thank you.

"getting to kow yourself better, and communicate your core values to your surroundings."

wow. this is good. i like this very much. you are clearly showing and identifying, in more ways than one the differences between the brand identity, and brand image which people can often get confused/ not recognise the differences between.
that i believe, is where there is a breakdwon of communication with people and thier self identity and brand image it is known to escape them, and they are not sure on how to keep consistent with both and how to use them to drive them, and to market themselves.
i agree with what you have said here in your blog. it has inspired me, given me true knowledge and a better undertsanding.

Thank you.
